It is the oldest Chor Bazaar in the country. Earlier it used to be behind the Red Fort as Sunday Market. Now, it is located near Daryaganj near Navelty and Jama Masjid. This market is different from Mumbai. It is also known as the scrap market.

Items ranging from hardware to kitchen electronics are available here. This market opens on Sunday’s near Jama Masjid. You need to be careful while buying products here as most of the things are not reliable for the obvious reasons.

The english translation of Chor Bazaar is ‘Market of Thieves’. Chor Bazaar in Mumbai is one of the largest flea markets in India. It lies in the city’s western part on Mutton Mohammad Ali road. It is about 150 years old.

Earlier it was known as ‘Shor Bazaar’ as the shopkeepers used to call the customers in a loud voice to sell them goods. But due to the mispronunciation of ‘shor’ its name got changed to ‘Chor Bazaar’.

There’s a rumor that if something from your house is stolen, then you can get the items from this bazaar. Besides that, you can get second hand garments, automobile parts, expensive watches and their replica, vintage and antique show pieces here. Most of the things are not reliable to buy from here for the obvious reasons.

Chor Bazaar address – Mumbai Central Railway Station which is located just 2.8 kilometres away from the market is the nearest railway station. From the station, one can take a bus ride or a rickshaw ride. The route to reach the bazaar goes via Dr. Anand Rao Nair Road and Patthe Bapurao Marg.

Johari Bazaar translates to ‘Jeweller’s Market’, here you will find stunning semi-precious stones and clothing fabrics along with the most gorgeous Kundan jewellery.
